Contact Wire Calculator

A result you don’t understand, an ampacity value that looks wrong, a feature you wish existed, or a partnership idea β€” this page routes your message to the person who can actually help. Every calculation question is answered by someone who can open the NEC tables and check the math.

Two-Business-Day Goal

Most emails get a real human answer within two business days. Correction reports that affect calculator output are prioritized.

Answered by Someone Who Knows the Tables

Every message is read by someone who can open Table 310.15(B)(16) and check the math β€” not a script that pastes links back at you.

One Inbox Per Purpose

Sending to the right directory entry skips a routing step. Unsure? Use support@ and we will forward it internally.

Four routes, four inboxes β€” each one lands with someone who can act on it.

Sizing Help

Calculation & Results Support

Wire size result not matching what your chart or contractor expected? Send your circuit parameters β€” voltage, load amperes, one-way distance, phase, insulation rating (60/75/90Β°C), copper or aluminum, installation method, and voltage-drop limit β€” along with the AWG you expected versus the AWG returned.

Corrections

Report a Table or Formula Error

Our engine is built on NEC Table 310.15(B)(16)/(17), the 240.4(D) small-conductor rule, and 240.6(A) breaker sizes. If any ampacity value, resistance figure, or note disagrees with the code book or your AHJ's interpretation, send the page URL and the exact numbers. We verify against NFPA 70 before changing anything.

Feature Requests & Ideas

Want metric units and Β°C distance inputs, ambient-temperature derating (NEC 310.15(B)(2)), conductor-bundling adjustment factors, aluminum 14 AWG handling, PDF result exports, or a dedicated EV-charger mode? We build around what electricians, solar installers, and serious DIYers actually need in the field.

Partners

Partnerships & Trade Education

Electrical wholesalers, wire and cable manufacturers, trade schools, apprenticeship programs, and inspection agencies β€” we are open to white-label licensing, classroom integrations, printed table companions, and co-developed sizing tools.

Quick Answers

Three questions we hear most from electricians, installers, and DIYers.

How do I get a faster reply?

Include the exact inputs you entered β€” voltage, amperes, distance in feet, phase, insulation rating, conductor material, installation method, and voltage-drop limit β€” plus the AWG you expected and the AWG the calculator returned. That single sentence usually lets us reproduce and explain the difference in one reply.

Do you offer live chat or phone support?

Not yet. Email lets us verify every answer against the actual ampacity tables and voltage-drop math before responding, which matters when the topic is conductor safety. We read every message and answer most within two business days.

Can you review my wiring plan or design?

We can help you understand what a calculator result means, why a limiting factor triggered, or how voltage drop behaves on a long run. We cannot approve or stamp designs β€” plan review and approval belong to a licensed electrician and your Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ).

What to Include for a Fast Reply

  • Browser & device (for UI glitches)
  • Exact inputs: voltage, amperes, distance, phase, insulation, conductor, installation, drop limit
  • The AWG or max-amps result you expected vs. the result shown
  • Page URL or section title if a guide or table looks wrong
